Using Laser Treatments for Effective Hair Removal

Laser treatments are a great option for people looking to permanently remove unwanted hair, or for those simply unhappy with constant waxing, shaving or tweezering!

Hair removal treatments are not just for the legs or bikini line though; lasers can effectively be used to combat unwanted hair on the face, especially the delicate areas around the lips. And it’s not only ladies who can benefit; laser hair removal can permanently reduce men’s chest and back hair for a cleaner, younger look.

Laser hair removal can be used on the:

  • face

  • underarms

  • arms

  • chest

  • back

  • bikini line

  • legs

How Does It Work?

The secret to laser hair removal is the clinically-proven technology that targets and destroys the cells responsible for hair growth – without harming the surrounding skin. Highly concentrated light beams pulse for a fraction of a second, treating many hairs at once.

Smaller areas of skin can be treated in a few minutes, whilst larger area such as the chest or back may take an hour to treat.

The Procedure

Laser hair removal treatments are detailed procedures that require preparation and consultation. It’s important for people undergoing treatment to discuss their goals and medical history with the person performing the treatment before they start.

It’s important to limit hair removal by other means during the few weeks before a laser treatment, as the procedure targets hair roots and these therefore need to be intact. It’s also important to stay out of the sun during the weeks before and after treatment.

Before treatment, hair being treated is trimmed and the outer layers of skin are protected with a cool gel. The technician or doctor performing the treatment usually tests a pulse to check for any adverse reactions before completing the full procedure.

Post-treatment, cooling packs or anti-inflammatory creams may be applied if there is any soreness.

How Often?

We recommend a minimum of six treatments, with one every six weeks to achieve permanent results.

Risks

All laser treatments carry an element of risk and we’ll discuss this prior to any procedure starting.

Treated areas may appear slightly sunburnt during the days after treatment and there is a very small risk of blistering, although this is rare.
